tl;dr = ‘Too Long, Didn’t Read’

I picked up this abbreviation from the somewhat dubious and infamous, somethingawful.com forums. There, and in other places it originated as a commonly used put down to a poster who has posted a long post. What with this being a lazier end of the web, it quickly got reduced to just 5 character.

Since I often make long replies on various forums* out of the neccessity of citing evidence or being fully explanative, I’ve adopted the subversion of it that some of the somethingawful posters used, where at the bottom of those long posts, it indicates a brief summation of the critical points for the impatient or time-short reader.

* but oddly not on somethingawful, I’m not actually a member there
